MCN – the Middle East Communications Network – is supporting the Dubai Youth Film Festival 2017. Organized by the American School of Dubai and their film club ‘ASD Cinematography in Motion’, the festival will be held at ASD on May 31, 2017.

The Dubai Youth Film Festival is a first of its kind – an initiative that aims to encourage creativity and innovation in videography and the art of filmmaking. “DYFF invites UAE’s talented youth to Dubai’s first ever Youth Festival. At DYFF, Dubai’s aspiring filmmakers will have a chance to showcase their work in an intellectually based youth conference that intends to unite talented and passionate individuals to hone and develop the skills necessary to effectively express ideas through modern digital media.”

Submission categories include Documentary, Comedy, Independent and Mobile. The films submitted in the Mobile category need to be shot on mobile – and the winning entries will be displayed on mobile as well. The interesting format is called “Shot on Mobile – Shown on Mobile”. The festival is open to all schools in the UAE.

MCN feel connected to the festival in more ways than one. First of all, the festival is a first of its kind – which encourages and inspires the youth  of the country to express their creativity and innovation. Video is fast becoming the medium of choice for brands, and we feel that by supporting and encouraging the youth to express themselves in video – both horizontal and vertical – we’ll see some interesting submissions where we can support and help nurture the talent.
