Initiative – one of MCN’s key media agencies – organized a #LetsTalkMobile event at the Madinat Theatre in Dubai on September 25th. The event was attended by 250 delegates from across the agencies, media, and client spectrums. During the day the #LetsTalkMobile hashtag was on the top trending charts on twitter in the UAE – a result of a long stream of live tweets from the conference. In attendance were the Initiative global leadership, as well as MCN CEO, Ghassan Harfouche and other key ‘mobile world’ personalities from the region.
The day started with an insightful presentation by Initiative’s Global Chief Strategy Officer, Sarah Ivey from Toronto. Other speakers included Mohamad Mourad of Google, Natalie Bokenham of IPG Media Labs, Lisa Szatsznajder of Connect Ads for Twitter, Walid Driss of Facebook, Robyn Myers of InMobi and Eddy Maroun of Anghami. Panel discussions featured represntatives from Etisalat UAE and Egypt and Mobily KSA. Other panel discussions featured Samsung and Blackberry representatives.
What we learnt from the sessions was that mobile in the region was stronger than ever, and that the media landscape was fast adjusting to how consumers were adapting to mobile technologies, software, platforms and how habits were being re-shaped to the handheld devices.
